What would it take for Batman to not be needed anymore and was he needed in the first place? __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles
And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

I know this answer doesn't necessarily fit into a comic book fantasy question but it's all I can come up with.
Gotham City would have to have a spiritual revival where most of the criminal element got saved. No more criminals, no more crime, no more Batman unless he wanted to work with fire fighters averting disasters. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

Quote: Batman is Batman not for Gotham, but for himself
Great observation. Then, because of it, the question becomes what would make Bruce quit? When could he be satisfied enough not to do it anymore? __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles

That's an incredible aspiration, but not possible. That would have him nabbing jaywalkers and the like. Maybe narrow it down some? __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles

Ok only dangerous criminals who may use force to injure others or steal other's property. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

What would keep new ones away so they he knows when he's done? __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles

Hmm, maybe he could go on a percentage of criminal activity vs the percentage of bumps and bruises he receives in a given night and do a cost benefit analysis. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

I don't think he can stop. After all, without the Bat, Bruce Wayne is just an empty shell. His quest by its nature cannot ever stop because without it, his raison d'etre is no more. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1

He knows he can't provide a permanent solution but he insists on fighting his war anyway. He sounds like Bush after all, except that Batman actually goes out and fights terror himself. __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles

That actually brought another question to mind about Batman in general. Thanks Tim. Strictly from the comics now.
Is it morally just or unjust to have sidekicks like Robin and Batgirl?
(BTW-Bush is still a villain) __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles

Ok what I have to use the superhero code only?
Well yes it is immoral. A superhero's code is to always protect others and not put others in danger. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

When I said strictly from comics, I meant he had no sidekicks in the movie.(not counting the sad wannabes) __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles
