Quote:
Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

A little farther down it says -
Quote:
JAS 2:23  And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

See John 3:16 is talking about obtaining eternal life. - For whosoever believeth on Him should not perish.

Works are a product of faith. Works aren't the key to heaven only an indication the person is already their way thanks to faith in Christ.

Basically the point is just because you say you have faith in Christ you need to live like it too not to go to heaven but because of the fact God commands it.

See when you believe in Jesus you become a child of God, God will punish you, but never cast you aside.

Quote:
If you're gonna start being a jerk, you're going to get it right back in short order.
I am not.

Quote:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. -- Matthew 7:21
Jesus is just pointing out that some folks will claim to represent Him that aren't really. Again another good reason to study the Bible for yourself.

God does judge people for their actions, but whether or not you go to heaven depends on believing Christ paid the eternal penalty for your sins on Calvary. To believe otherwise would be saying that Jesus died for nothing if you could become a Christian and lose your salvation based on your works. When Jesus said through Him you have eternal life, it wouldn't be eternal if it was only until you did something bad.

f the perfect and infallible word of God CAN be misused for ANY purpose, it is automatically imperfect and fallible.
That's flawed logic. If an evil or misguided man misused the words of any book it wouldn't make the book evil.

Say don't give me a hard time about not answering questions right away. I've been busy with my wife a lot this week. We been taking a small vacation swimming, playing b ball etc. I've got the rest of the year to work work and work on my websites.

Good people using it for good reasons therefore also does not make the book good, by your 'flawless' logic. By the way, you explaining how what it says isn't what it means, actually backs up what I say on several points.

I'm not giving anyone a hard time. You don't have time to post one thing while you're posting another?
That's some flawed logic.

And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

That's not what I said at aaaaaalll. What you think it's saying is wrong. I think you are assuming stuff again.

Sometimes I feel like Andy Griffith explaining Mayberry to a city slicker.

Huh?

I looked back over the thread and must assume most of the blame for this going so far off course.

Apologies.
