An example of the public school system since humanism took over and God got kicked out.

Even God isn't going to fix that.
That's an example of a lack of education, not a lack of religion. You sure she doesn't belong to your church? __________________

How much you want to bet 90 percent of the kids coming out of public school couldn't do any better? __________________

Not being able to find the US on a map is just rediculous. Make em point out Iraq instead. Then I'll go with the 90% figure. __________________

That is NCLB, then. For the majority of this decade, the GOP has run the WH, Congress, the majority of governorships and the Supreme Court. They've been at the helm, so if public schools are failing, and the GOP's in charge … well, the math is pretty easy.

The public schools are failing because of school unions that take away any hope of competition. Unions make it almost impossible to fire teachers that fail at their job. Everybody knows teachers unions constantly vote dems.
Had the dems not crushed vouchers we might have started to move in the right direction. All dems want to do is throw more money at schools. How is that going to help when you can't even fire a teacher for failing to do their job?
Lastly taking God out of schools was the first problem that led to all the other problems. When God was in, chewing gum in class was the worst problem we had in schools. God is out and today we have to worry if our kids are going to get shot, and you atheists and liberal minded individuals are still too stubborn and proud to admit it. __________________

Maybe the same could be said for those denying the proliferation of guns in our society. Remember, a lack of God doesn't kill people, people kill people.
When I went to public school in the 70s and 80s in the south, God only came up during the Pledge. If that one word in the Pledge is the cause, then let's put it back in. But, I'm not really sure how that has anything to do with the heinous trend of school violence.

Tim, outside of tenure, teachers have to constantly be on their toes now. Because of the nonsense with teaching towards tests to get funding, any teacher that perceivably loses funding for a school is out on their ass. Period.
Quote: When God was in, chewing gum in class was the worst problem we had in schools.
False association again. Just because they were in the same window of time doesn't make them accountable for each other. Putting God in schools now would not make guns disappear just as God being removed didn't make them appear in the first place.
Quote: you atheists and liberal minded individuals are still too stubborn and proud to admit it.
We do have the tendency of sticking as closely to logic and reality as we can. Sorry if that clouds up your sunny picture any. You keep picking liberals and atheists as scapegoats for what changing times have brought. Have a good look around and see what's really going on instead of just blaming the same groups someone else told you to. __________________

People had guns in the 1950's probably more than today, and they didn't have kids killing kids in school. Where there is no discipline there is no order. You can't control some of these kids. All of society is geared toward rebellion. __________________

Really? How so? I want reading material, complete with stats.
There are definitely more guns now than in the 50s. And last I checked, discipline came from my family and teachers when I went to school, not yahweh.

If all of society is geared toward rebellion and they had guns in the 50's, why'd it wait so long to get this bad?
The only discipline you think will put back that order in schools is not allowed to be taught in schools. Now what?
We should focus on a solution instead of just pointing fingers. __________________

Let teachers go back to the basics and teach what we were taught spelling math blah blah blah up here all they do is get pressured (and i'm not 100% completly sure why) to do these tests all the time, heck last year my little girl didn't even have a spelling book..now that is ridiculous,
then we got told she doesn't read fast enough (WHAT???) she has no problem reading at all smart as a whip but because she doesn't read 300 word a minute or something like that (blow out of proprtion)
she is a slow reader ,and we had to get somone over the course of the year to get her to speed read and they need to push these tests and do as many as possible??? WHY???
Let these kids learn just like we did, know i know this doesn't take care of guns or violence in schools but a good bambostick and some twinkies can solve that __________________

It's all about money hock. Schools that don't perform to a certain standard get their funding cut. That standard is based on the tests. Kids aren't passing said tests and schools lose money. To keep from losing that money, superintendants impress it upon teachers to make sure the kids pass or look for another job unless tenured. The teachers teach the answers to the tests and the kids pass, the school keeps it funding, the teacher keeps their job, and the kids basically forget what they've memorized in a few short days because they weren't taught properly in the first place. __________________

Gee I think that's just something you have to be able to see on your own...sort of a deductive reasoning skill I would think. I mean come on in the 50's parents thought it was rebellous for Elvis to shake his hips, now they laugh at it. Things that were taboo then are nothing now. Plus in general when you got society going against God at every turn. I'd call that rebellous to the Almighty wouldn't you?
There are definitely more guns now than in the 50s. And last I checked, discipline came from my family and teachers when I went to school, not yahweh.
Well my first instinct is that most people in the 50's would have owned at least one gun in the house. Just my personal opinion since most libs wouldn't dare own a gun nowadays. Why do you have any hard stats on that one? Discipline is kind of hard for parents and teachers to pull off when they don't have a set standard themselves. I mean come on we are all a bunch of animals right, and truth is relative. I mean what is truth. It's whatever I feel like when I wake up, isn't it? That can't be confusing for a kid growing up now can it?
You know CA you really got a tone. Let me say in clarification hopefully not to confuse you and pak with too many ideas at once, but some rebellion is good when it's against tyranny like our founding fathers, but when it's against God, against all authority, and against parents it's bad on a society.
And Elvis is cool too, but John Lennon sucked. The beatles just rebelled against anything normal. Their music sucked after the first few songs except for the occasional song like Revolution. Now I hope I've cleared all that up now, and you both clearly understand when rebellion is good and when it's not.
Oh but Paul Mcartney and that guy that sung that song it's "going to be all right" in the 80's were ok. Paul had a good song for that spie movie with Chevy chase. Ok good now were straight, right? __________________

truth (trth)
n. pl. truths (trz, trths)
1. Conformity to fact or actuality.
2. A statement proven to be or accepted as true.
3. Sincerity; integrity.
4. Fidelity to an original or standard.
5.
a. Reality; actuality.
b. often Truth That which is considered to be the supreme reality and to have the ultimate meaning and value of existence.
[Middle English trewthe, loyalty, from Old English trowth; see deru- in Indo-European roots.]
Synonyms: truth, veracity, verity, verisimilitude
These nouns refer to the quality of being in accord with fact or reality. Truth is a comprehensive term that in all of its nuances implies accuracy and honesty: "We seek the truth, and will endure the consequences" Charles Seymour.
Veracity is adherence to the truth: "Veracity is the heart of morality" Thomas H. Huxley.
Verity often applies to an enduring or repeatedly demonstrated truth: "beliefs that were accepted as eternal verities" James Harvey Robinson.
Verisimilitude is the quality of having the appearance of truth or reality: "merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative" W.S. Gilbert.
That's what truth is everyday regardless of who is using the term or to what ends.
Saying John Lennon and the Beatles sucked is an opinion, that while you're entitled to your opinion, it doesn't automatically make it truth. The truth here is that your taste in music is questionable at best.
What exactly is all this rebellion you speak of?

Verisimilitude is the term Donner used to describe Superman the Movie.
I think Lennon's remark about being more popular than Jesus was stupid. A lot of people burned beatles records after that.
I like rock, and junk. Not sure I should sometimes, but I do not near as much as when I was a kid in the 80's but I just can't keep up with who sings what anymore. The thing is that whole 70's thing I never got into really. That whole hippy thing. Rock without some sort of hippy liberal political movement behind it is acceptable for me. You know fun rock, hair metal, classics. I just happened to see Lennon on a documentary the other day reminded me of what kind of nerd this guy was. The hippy no bath for a year look with the dopey look on your face deal just don't cut it for me. Stupid surfers I can deal with like David Lee Roth, but stupid hippies marching around protesting make me nautious. I like tough guy songs too like pak put on Supermantv.net the other day for workouts. "Imagine" makes me fall asleep and the words make no sense unless you are a hippy. The monkees were a lot better. __________________

Hey they didn't burn Elvis records. Elvis would have kicked John Lennon's butt in a fight any day of the week. __________________

I think Elvis didn't like the Beatles too much. He was into patriotism and he stayed out of politics for the most part. He wasn't a social activist, and you are right about one thing. Elvis learned the martial arts and not just for movies.
Lennon was a weenie. __________________

Neither were weenies. Elvis was, however, a little off his rocker those last few years and doing as many drugs as any hippy. Kinda like that car salesman you like so much, Limbaugh.

Hey Elvis paid for his drug mistake with his life, but he wasn't a nerdy looking dweeb like Lennon. He could kick butt. Nobody would have liked Lennon's music if they hadn't been tripping on acid. __________________

Both are greats and furthered rock and roll, and influenced other music genres. Both of 'em. Period. Full stop.
