okay tim, that guy is a total fag. that had to be a joke. there is no way that they could be serious. that was one of the funniest things that i've seen in a long time. "it fits right in your mouth," "it fits right in your hand,"  "don't worry, it won't squirt in your face." closet homos for sure. but so many of those right wing religious republicans are. self loathing homos i guess? anyway, tim, thank you. that was awesome.

Zod that wasn't a very intellectual argument. Making fun of the points made doesn't help your case unless you are in grade school.

Gayness aside...

Bananas fit really well in monkey hands too and as an atheist I have to say bananas are far less frightening than fruitcakes. This guest proved nothing.

Right just another coicidence, one more in the bottomless list of just happened that way in evolution's massive case files.

It's a complete non-sequitor. Produce has nothing to do with evolution of man. It's like what is brought up constantly with the show 'Lost'-people find connections they're looking for even when they have to make them up.

lol, i know my comments were immature but that video was just so ridiculous, i couldn't help myself. and for any homosexuals out there, i'm on your side. don't misread my "fag" remarks as me being hateful or homophobic. i just hate this whole political correctness bullshit that everyone seems to be buying into. you can't even say "retarded" without some idiot getting angry. i use the "N" word sometimes. it doesn't make me racist. in fact, i hate that i have to call it the "N" word. i'd rather just say the word but... anyway, when i see my black friends, it's not unusual for me and my friends to say:"what's up my nigga?" it's just the way we talk. we always have. anyway, back to the banana. there are alot of holes in the theory of evolution tim, it doesn't mean it's not true. i just can't believe that you think that "the banana story" is actually a good argument against evolution. it seems to me that you guys are grasping at straws. i mean, it's easy to argue a point that needs no common sense or facts to back it up. but really, i think that guy is gay. he must be. i mean, i thought it was a funny video. my friends thought the guy was a total weirdo.

Okaaaaay. I didn't know you played on that side.

You can't have it both ways. If you are politically correct toward gayness than you can't use gayness as an insult when it suits you, and then turn around and pat your gay buds on the back and say don't worry I'm really on your side.

You miss the banana point. It was just one of many items in this world that fit a pattern of being designed.

i think you're a little mixed up tim. first off, i support gays because i believe in equality for everybody regardless of sexual orientation, not because it's politically correct. the whole world could be against gays and i'd still support them and their rights. second, i don't think i really have any gay buddies. but if one of my friends came out of the closet, i'd still be friends with him or her. and third, i wasn't using "gayness" (as you call it) as an insult. i just think that the guy in the video is a closet homosexual. you just think it's an insult cause you hate gays. so go ahead, call me a fag, what the hell do i care. my girlfriend might disagree with you though. i don't know much about dennis cosinich, but i liked his answer in the debates to this question. "Do you believe in gay marriage and why?" "yes because it boils down to this. you either believe that we are all equal or you don't." so which is it tim? is this a democracy where we are all equal. or are we only equal if we're evangelicals?
Posted:  25 Aug 2007 01:07
i just wanted to add one thing. i'm not sure who it was, possibly duncan hunter or bill richardson, but they looked very stupid when melissa ethridge asked them about gays. "do you think people choose to be gay?" yes he answered. "so you think when i was in grade 7, i said :hmmm, i think i'll like girls." his response..."well, i'm not a scientist..."  god some people are stupid. it must be a side effect of religion.

I do believe in equal rights. Any gay man can marry any woman he chooses just like anybody else since the beginning of time.

What's your point? You think she couldn't have made a decision when she was in 7th grade to like girls? Frankly, I think if anything conservatives only mess up when they back peddle. Tell it like it is and don't back down I say. The truth is the truth. So please expand and tell me why Ethridge couldn't have chosen her lifestyle at a young age. For that matter there are a lot of missing facts here to that would prove interesting like how was she brought up? What did her peers tell her? What kind of things did she watch, or listen to that might have influenced her? A lot goes into making a decision, and a decision is what it was.

I don't appreciate your constant remarks about the intelligence of religious individuals. That's a classic high school move of trying to make your opponent look stupid to hopefully build yourself up. Just worry about sounding intelligent yourself ok. Don't worry about the intellectual level of religious individuals. Just prove your point with facts if you got them.

the problem is you don't believe the facts tim. you don't believe scientists, you don't believe anything that isn't said on Fox or by your preacher. i don't have to make you look stupid, your ignorant responses to questions about homosexuality speak volumes. and i don't think people are stupid because they're religious. i've told you before that my father is catholic (and you said he wasn't a good one cause he doesn't hate gays) very intelligent remarks tim. i don't even think evangelicals are stupid. i think people that descriminate are stupid though. i think that people who think the planets best scientists are wrong because their priest says so, are stupid. if you think the answer to gun violence is to arm everybody, than i think your intelligence is lacking, yes i do. i know i'm giving into my baser instincts by name calling but hey, if you say something stupid, i'm gonna tell you. i don't think YOUR stupid tim. just some of your ideas about the world seem so backwards to me. as some of mine do to you, i'm sure. but i can back up most of my views with facts and stats and simple common sense. most of your views seem to be opinions based on what is written in the bible. why do you take the bible so literally? there are other sins like gluttony and greed which are far worse than anything the bible says about homosexuality. but you choose to attack gays. first it was blacks with the southerners and now it's homosexuals. based on their recent record, it looks like it's the republicans that are having a problem with gluttony. but still you guys support what's happening in the world because your president quotes the bible to support his agenda and because your preacher tells you to vote republican. and that my friend is STUPID. no one single answer is ever the answer tim. i heard this little saying and i think it says alot. "isms are great for rational people but in the hands of irrational people, isms always lead to violence." i hope there are no hard feelings tim.
Posted:  27 Aug 2007 17:15
Wait, doesn't the bible say men shouldn't lay down with men? I thought God liked lesbians?

In response to Zod, you should pay more attention to what I'm actually writing. You are hilarious dude, you got me hating people because I don't agree with what they do. What school of reason do you attend? Do you actually think to disagree with someone's agenda or actions means you hate that person? If that's the case then we need to all pack up and shut up because all we are doing is hate. How dare we disagree with one another. How hateful and spiteful of us.

And as far as facts go, have you ever posted any yet? I've seen nothing posted so far but feelings and emotions from you.

I'm not gonna weigh in on anything other than that video is absurdly funny. The banana bit comes off like some repressed Haggard-Foley-Bob Allen porn!

Great stuff!

Wow.

You should watch his 'Myth of a Christian Nation' interview. About a half hour long, in 3 parts, to pitch his book on the Charlie Rose show. Fascinating stuff. Good find Zod.

He sounds like a transitional point to bring Christians to liberalism or at least shut up and take it. I think he means well, and I think he's probably a true Christian, but no where in the Bible does it say to be a Christian means you have to turn a blind eye when movements like the gay agenda threaten to overtake children effecting how society views sin. From a Christian stand point, a man has to be willing to admit he is a sinner. If he believes for instance he was just born that way, and he can't help it and God would just be cruel to send him to hell, he will never accept that Jesus had to die for his sin. He'll never repent and turn to Christ and he'll die in his sins one day and go to hell.

I'm not for making new laws one way or the other except for a few things like abortion, but I'm telling you the libs want to change the laws more and more in their favor, and Christians shouldn't stand by and do nothing.

Obviously you can't stand pull a lever for all republicans and think you are getting represented. I think what the last few years of scandals have taught us is that more real Christians need to run for office.

You're still making that leap that says gay people have to think they're sinners.
What is the gay agenda?
You think they're half as concerned about you as you are of them?

If the only thing you would change the law on is abortion, what makes you any different?

Maybe the last few years of scandals has also told us to leave religion out of political decisions. We need the right person for the job, not just based on what book they prescribe to or some novelty that they are just different and different would have to be better. The titles of Rep and Dem meant little to nothing. Their promises mean little to nothing. The voting process is a shameful mess. Cut out all the BS and just find the right people.

Be good Christians.
Go to church and live how your book tells you to live.
Pass those values on to your children.
Reap the rewards you are supposed to.

Seems like you already have plenty to do. Leave politics out of it.

No, I think that not legislating from book written by semitic nomads of 3,000 or so years ago would be enough for most of us.

So we should vote not by our conscience but by your set of values the ones you made up for yourself?

no, we get together and reason. we use sources provided to us by those who have come before — and the bible can be one, but not all of it. and we come up with a set of rules most everyone can agree on.

again, i don't discount all the lessons taught in the bible, but there are some which don't apply.

I said nothing of silencing you, making you inferior or stripping some supposed power. Pay attention. I'm only doing this rant once.

Americans should vote and religious beliefs should not affect that decision. Don't confuse the issue. It's this president that impedes stem cell research because of religion. It's a debacle over a woman's right to choose because of religion. It's gays being shamed over what they are because of religion. It's people trying to rewrite history and vote on reality because of religion. All these things that are so complex and convuluted unnecessarily by differences of opinion and we lose scientific and societal gains because of it. We find ourselves consistently sucked into pointless fights over who's right and wrong and things are not getting done because of it. Our government loves when we squabble over shit that doesn't matter at all, so they know that we're not paying attention to what does matter. Us atheists are tired of your beliefs impeding on our reality.

The presidency is a job, not godhood. Vote by who's going to do the job and not who plays the best Christian on TV.

What set of values do you think I have that is so different than yours? I don't believe in mysticism. Name anything else if you can.

Something called morals.

Very true, liberals want to control more and more aspects of your life.  Heck,in New York they're considering (or have passed - don't remember which right off the bat) that Mothers must bottle feed their babies.  What gives the government the right to decide that for goodness sakes?
Posted:  28 Aug 2007 21:55

I don't need 200. My statement is based on the last 20 alone. Follow your own advice to zod and back up your statement.

I'm a liberal and I do want control over my own life, not anyone else's. You're confusing us with the religious right wanting to tell others how to live their lives.

By the way, welcome D. Glad you could make it.

Wait a minute so liberals don't want to make me more tolerant, let school teachers force evolution on kids, gay curriculm, etc. Liberals don't want to raise my taxes. Liberals don't want to force all smokers into a box? Liberals don't want to force everyone into listening to John Lennon sing, "Imagine" in elevators and public restaurants?  Maybe you don't want all of these things, but there are liberals out there that do. I dare you to deny it cause you know libs want just as much control as does anybody else. Christians just want a peaceful tranquil atmosphere that isn't filled with dope smoke. See I don't get that libs want dope smoke, but want to outlaw cigerettes. (contradiction here, I must be honest, I can't help myself, but sometimes I wish cigerettes were illegal too) But at least I admit when I contradict myself.
