On October 23, 1913, President Woodrow Wilson issued a Proclamation of a National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer. He wrote: "The season is at hand... to turn in praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God for His manifold... blessings to us as a nation. The year that has just passed has been marked...by...His gracious and beneficent providence.... We have seen the practical completion of a great work at the Isthmus of Panama.... 'Righteousness exalteth a nation' and 'peace on earth, good will towards men' furnish the only foundation upon which can be built the lasting achievements of the human spirit." __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

He was obviously trying to establish a theocracy.

Or, as you types usually try to pin on him, a one-world government after getting us into a war we didn't have to join.

"You types"? Please elaborate. I was unaware I was a 'type'. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1

Uh, what does the topic have to do with a one world government? __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

Well maybe you should have mentioned that Lester, but I still don't see what that has to do with the topic. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

OK, Captain, I'll take your bait. When a one world governemtn arises, as I believe it will, it will no doubt be based on the United Nations, just as the United Nations was based loosely on the League of Nations. Many of my 'type', whatever that is, felt at the time that this was one of the first steps down that road. They were probably right. Now, how many steps we are down that road, and how many steps are left, I do not propose to be wise enough to know. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1

Don't we already have a "One World Government"?
The UN was placed in NYC for a reason. It has always been funded by, controlled by and rendered ineffective by our own leadership. Coupled with our presence in the economy, our arsenal and our safe spot between two big oceans- we're generally beyond reproach. What we say usually goes, more so than any empire before us.
Even Iraq would cease to be a problem if we chose to make it cease to exist, as I occasionally hear floated (hopefully in jest) on this very message board.
I think the only thing that keeps this little blue rock turning is that the "One World Government" doesn't sell out totally to economic or political colonialism or control by the elites. Typically we've been so suspicious of tyranny that we've done a pretty good job of governing the world since we inherited that task from the Brits.
These days, I am a bit worried. 50 years is a fairly short time in the grand scheme of things. i believe, just as Aristotle (and Steven Covey apparently) that a person or entity is only the sum of its habits. I don't want us to develop bad habits- especially if we run the world.

Interesting points, Danny. I would say there's a lot of truth to what you say. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1
