Well the Lord is merciful, but I'd much rather try to get things from God with a right heart that's for sure. He'll forgive us anytime we ask, but I really don't think He likes it when we pray only under tough times. Of course sometimes I think He brings tough times to get us back to Him. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

First, most liberals aren't atheists. Second, why should we think that way? It is a free country. Even George Washington acknowledged atheism as a legitimate spiritual conclusion.

Quote: Second, why should we think that way? Well personally, as a Christian I'd like to see everyone that would meet me in heaven when it's all over with. God doesn't force belief in Him, and He doesn't force anyone to live with Him in heaven either. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

Amen brother. I'm not an atheist.
Furthermore, it is a good thing that our Founders DID advocate total freedom. Personally, I think religious categories are outdated advertising brands set up to make a buck off spirituality. A stance like that would have me drawn and quartered in plenty of previous times or current eras. Though I seem to have settled on Catholic (for reasons beyond my control, I assure you) I was dragged to church after church prior to that. What all these groups have in common is denominational processing in the name of paying the rent.
Why pay someone else to tell you what you think about God? Shouldn't such advice at least be free? Ah well, other people can do as they please. Personally, I'm Christian by nature, philosophical stance and ascribed geopolitical status, Catholic by the grace of people I consider important. But as far as God? I'm personally quite assured and litterally agnostic regarding the assurances of others. But like John Lennon said- "Whatever gets ya through the night is allright..."

Well anybody ever see the movie Patton? The General was quite a leader yet he was a contradiction in terms. He prayed constantly for victory, requested that whoever was in good with God pray for good weather to fight. He got victory too, but on the other hand He cussed continuously. He was meaner than a rattlesnake, but he got the job done. He wasn't what I'd call a perfect Christian theologically, but he realized you need God to get the victory.
Excuse the language, but this is interesting.
When asked if he read the bible he yelled back. “Every God Damn day.” And he in fact did read his Bible. __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.
