Hands down, the '00s were the worst political decade at least since the 1990s.

Reason.tv celebrates the (lack of) personalities, the scandals, and the screw-ups that made us all want to forget the first 10 years of the 21st century.

Approximately 2.10 minutes. No politicians were hurt in the making of this video.

Produced by Meredith Bragg and Nick Gillespie.

The worst decade since the 1990's...well that winds up as a pretty short stick, essentially saying, it was worse than the 90's.

I can't argue against that idea. The 90's were awesome as I turned 18, 21 & 25 during them, and as such everything cool that ever was or will be came into existence (in my opinion) during that decade.

THe 00's were a pretty lousy decade though in many ways, though of course every decade has its detractors.  For some the 70's were the end of American Decency, for others the 80's were the end of American Compassion.  The 90's were perhaps the end of American Morals, and the 00's were the end of American Intelegence.  Unless of course you were on the other side of any of those coins.

The 70's were when the promise of equality for all people came to pass.  The 80's were when the industry of the American Spirit was freed from the Burden of Government.  The 90's were when the American People awoke from their puritanical haze to comprehend that there were more important things to be concerned about than the delicate sensabilities of a minority.  And the 00's were the great awakening from the foolishness of enforced hedgemony of thought and a renewal of the American spirit and it's spiritual nature.

As a general rule, every decade were you and yours are in power is great, and every decade when you are not is lousy.

The Teens may well be the end of American Conservatism, or the rebirth of American Progressivness.  It's just a question of which side of the coffin you lay.

I'm a big fan of the 80's. Ronald Reagan, Knight Rider, A-team, and still had Bugs Bunny on Saturday morning.

You can't go wrong with the A-Team, I'll give you that.  Also Comics weren't really on the sliding time line yet, so you could still refence the late sixties in comic books without it seeming weird that your character wasn't in their seventies.

I don't think the original statement was very well thought out. I readily admit 2009 was a terrible year, but it was only a jarring end to a wild ride of a decade, and most of it was good. You want to see all the crap that went down in 2009? It's all right here:

You know, the 20's weren't so bad either, but it's hard to say that the actions of the 20's didn't lead to the economic devistation of the 30's.

Saying that the 00's were just fine until you got to 09, is kind of a false statement (not just on it's face).  The actions of the whole decade lead to the Cisises we faced in '08 and '09. You add in the troubles of 01.  The devistation of natural disasters (one U.S. city nearly destroyed) and the ongoing wars, and deficit spending and it's not so easy to say the 00's were that good.

But as I said, it's a short stick to say they were worse than the 90's and of course one can argue that the actions of the 80's and 90's lead in their own way to the economic devistation of '08.

All that said, there is little honnor '00 for except of course, that both my sons who will eventually no doubt go on to do something great and amazing were born in that decade.  Perhaps in that, the decade may yet redeem itself to history.

I was also married in the 00's so I guess that's a good thing for it too.
