Nothing stopping you. Go for it.

Well this is a nonlegal marriage in another country between a sentient being with the ability to consent and a nonsentient object with no ability to consent.

Based on that, I would have to say, no this isn't going to be a trend anymore than dog or cat marriage will become a trend.

The crux of any legal arrangement is that both parties freely consent to the arrangement, since inanimate (or even animate) objects are neither free nor capable of true consent (as they lack the ability to undestand the proceedings) they cannot engage in such a legal arrangement.

All that being said, if someone wants to say they are married to a videogame, their cat, their career, themselves, or their car, and want to perform a little fake ceremony that's fine.  However I think it's important to differentiate between such activities and the efforts of consenting adults to have their own relationships recognized in a legal way.

It's probably never said no, but can it say yes?

What an idiot. This is got to be one of the dumbest things I ever heard.

It seems that pakrat is slowly wandering over to the Enlightened side.

As opposed to this idiot! Then again, if he marries a video game character, at least there's little to no chance that he'll ever reproduce.

Food for thought from
GOParty

I've been there all along.
